Hi Leigh,

Thanks for reading and commenting on this article - I appreciate it!

When you say:

“…They absolutely won’t be [assimilated], simply because CC will never be accepted by governments in payment of tax obligations…”

I agree with you that current standalone CCs like BTC, ETH, etc will never be accepted by any govt for “tax obligations” and other fed or state transactions.

I agree with many that central governments are already or will sooner or later ban CCs for use within their borders. Then the question is, what happens to them afterwards? I think many CCs will be allowed to die. Others may become, as I state it, assimilated into the centrally regulated fiat digital cryptocurrency… I envision a digital version of the US goat’s 1930s mandated purchase of all personal holdings of gold (except a tiny token amount), and eventual abandonment of the dollar from gold as a standard.

“…Doing that would eliminate the government’s monopoly on the production of currency, its monetary sovereignty, and devalue that country’s currency impacting its ability to trade globally….”

See above - I do NOT envision any govt allowing a free-standing CC to exist legally within its borders… I agree that govt wants control of monetary policy to have control over economic disasters like the previous administration’s lethal, disasterous mismanagement of COVID leading to the economic mess we’re in now.

Good luck out there.
