Spot on James! The evidence we have is so spotty, and limited to things that have managed to survive (a literal survivorship bias in the data) that I think it is impossible to confidently assign any motivation to paleolithic people. Heck, we have a hard enough time doing that today, with people we look in the eyes! So I think that speculatin’ is the best we can do, and much of that lies in the realm of fiction rather than science. Anyways, thanks for reading and commenting! SD
