For me as a scientist, it still feels jarring to see a molecular genetic paper about something so personal as loneliness... but that's a prejudice, my prejudice, that has to go away as psychology and biology merge. After all, why study biology at all, but to understand "us" - and what more describes "us" at times than loneliness? sorry, rambling at 6am here in the lab, looking out at a still-dark sky.
