Thanks for reading and commenting Christine! I didn't understand your question when you ask: "...nothing said as yet about the either..." - I suspect a typo, you left a word or two out? As far as my article, that's a pretty big jump from the origin of life to poetry and music, but one way is to walk backwards, from humans to our nearest relatives, the chimpanzees, and we can see that they appreciate vocalized communications, and generate rhythms (music?) by beating on logs... so although we cannot say for sure these are precursors to language and poetry or music, we know we are probably on the right track and continue to study their behavior and brain chemistry. Genetically, we are extremely close, and the tiny differences are where we should look to see how humans and their genes evolved, and those genetic differences may be the root of the chemistry that explains our love for poetry and music.
